3D Printed Boxes
We design a box body and lid around the part it will hold. Interior space, connections and lid fit are built into the model. The first print is checked for product fit, opening and visible layer lines.
Applications
- Sample enclosures
- Custom-size presentation boxes
- Part placement prototypes
- Minimum order quantity
- 500 pieces
- Lid opening clearance
- Measure the part's widest and tallest points in its intended orientation inside the box. For a sliding lid, also measure the space needed to withdraw it fully where the box will be used.
- Internal and external dimensions
- Internal dimensions include the product's volume and insertion clearance. Wall thickness also affects the box's outer dimensions.
- Lid fit
- The clearance between lid and body determines how opening and closing feel. Suitable fit allowances depend on the material and production method.

Before printing
- Critical model dimensions
- Specify the model's units, connection holes and acceptable dimensional tolerances. Check lid fit and product placement in the first physical sample.
- Layer and print orientation
- Mark visible surfaces and lid-contact areas in the model. Choose print orientation with layer lines and support-contact areas in mind.
