Choosing materials and methods for PVC printing

How a card, folder, label or package will be used guides the material, transparent areas and printing method.

Selection factorEffect on design and production
Material and shapeTransparency, thickness and cut shape are selected for the intended use. The print area is assessed together with the material and surface.
Transparent areas and white inkOn a clear PVC box, the area through which the product will be seen can be left unprinted. White ink is used where opaque colours are needed.
Full-colour cards and packagingUV offset is considered for full-colour printing on plastic cards and packaging. White ink and transparent areas are planned as part of the design.
Product surface and conditions of useDirect UV printing and screen printing are considered according to the product surface and use. For industrial PVC vinyl labels, screen-printing ink and adhesive are selected for chemical exposure and outdoor conditions.
