Custom 3D Models and Samples

A 3D sample lets you check how a design looks in the hand and how its parts fit together. The sample is prepared around the question you want to answer, with appearance, critical dimensions, layer orientation and material chosen accordingly.

Applications

  • Samples for design discussions
  • Part fit checks
  • Shape and grip models
Minimum order quantity
500 pieces
Scale and joint to be tested
For a visual presentation, a 1:2 scale model halves every finished dimension. Assess joints or grips at actual size when testing them. Show hole diameter, mating-part diameter and the clearance separately in the drawing.
Visual and functional sample
A visual model helps assess shape and finish. A sample for fit, grip or mechanical testing may require a different material.
Effect of the production method
A sample makes dimensions and joints tangible. Mechanical performance in production must also be verified with the final material and manufacturing process.
Before printing
File and purpose of the check
Send the model with its units and revision clearly identified. State the question the sample should answer and the critical dimensional tolerances.
Layer orientation
Mark load-bearing and mating areas in the model. Choose print orientation with surface appearance, support marks and the process's effect on part behaviour in mind.
