Catalogues
A catalogue helps readers compare products through images, codes and technical information. Cover and inner paper are selected separately; weight, page count and binding determine its bulk and opening.
Applications
- Dealer product presentations
- Trade fair promotions
- Collection catalogues
- Minimum order quantity
- 500 pieces
- Minimum dimensions
- 10 × 10 cm
- Cover and inside paper
- Coated and uncoated papers have different surfaces. Specify paper type and weight in g/m² separately for covers and inner pages. Equal grammage does not always mean equal thickness.
- Page count and binding
- Spine thickness depends on paper thickness and binding as well as page count. Position text near the binding and images across facing pages to suit this construction.
- Why must a saddle-stitched catalogue's page count be a multiple of four?
- With standard saddle stitching, a sheet printed on both sides and folded in half creates four pages. State separate cover and inner-page counts where applicable and check the total layout accordingly. Other binding methods have different requirements.
- What is the difference between a catalogue and a brochure?
- A catalogue brings many products, codes, images and technical details together in an organised reference. Brochures present the essentials of a campaign or service in a shorter reading sequence. Choose according to the information and purpose, not just page count.
- How should catalogue dimensions and print quantities be specified?
- Catalogue dimensions are the width and height of a closed copy. For example, 32 inner pages plus a 4-page cover make 36 pages per copy. Print quantity is the number of finished catalogues for distribution.
