- Try a paper mock-up of a 9 × 9 cm square coaster, for example. Place your widest cup base on it. Measure the area left visible if the logo must show during service.
- Material selection by use
- Paper, glass and stone have different surfaces. Print appearance and care requirements depend on service conditions and expected reuse.
- Cup and design
- Choose coaster dimensions with the cup base. If a logo or message should remain visible beneath the cup, plan that exposed area separately.

- Show the intended cup base on the coaster drawing. Mark visible logos and text separately from the outer cutting line.
- Print check on the material
- Provide editable logo and pattern artwork. Identify the printed face and check fine-text readability at actual size on the selected material.
