Ring Binders
Ring binders organise punched pages or document sleeves for filing. Thicker document sets need more spine and mechanism space. The spine layout also allows for a file title that can be read on the shelf.
Applications
- Project files
- Dealer presentations
- Office archive
- Minimum order quantity
- 500 pieces
- Spine width and cover dimensions
- A4 documents measure 21 × 29.7 cm. If using document sleeves, measure the widest sleeve and the complete stack thickness. When the mechanism closes, the page edges must remain inside the cover.
- Mechanism and capacity
- Select the mechanism, spine width and total document thickness together for the required capacity. Include any document sleeves in this assessment.
- Cover layout
- Prepare front, spine and back as one flat layout. Keep important text clear of hinge and rivet areas.
- Do ring binders and pocket folders serve the same purpose?
- A ring binder holds punched pages or document sleeves using a binding mechanism. In a presentation folder, documents sit in pockets inside the cover. A frequently updated archive and a meeting presentation set may need different arrangements.

Before printing
- Document compatibility
- Check hole spacing with sample pages and sleeves. Test a full set to ensure the mechanism closes comfortably.
- Spine information
- Orient the spine title and code for the intended reading direction. Clearly identify each face on the flat cover template.
