Blockout Stickers
Blockout stickers place new information over old prices, codes or text on packaging. Their size covers the original area. Opacity is checked over the actual printing underneath.
Applications
- Update packaging price
- Replacing an old barcode
- Correction of product information
- Minimum order quantity
- 500 pieces
- Dimensions of the print to be covered
- Measure the outermost edges of the old text or barcode. Place a full-size mock-up over it and check that minor hand-application shifts will not expose old information.
- Existing area to cover
- Cut the label to cover old text or barcodes completely, bringing current information into one readable area. Surrounding allowance helps the update sit neatly on the package.
- Coverage test on the actual print
- Opacity depends on the darkness of the old print and the label construction. Existing raised details or surface differences may remain physically detectable underneath.

Before printing
- Old and new information
- Provide old information with the approved replacement text. Distinguish package variants by product name and match each correction file to the right variant.
- New barcode area
- Preserve the new code's quiet zone. On an applied sample, confirm that the old barcode is fully covered and only the new code reads with the intended scanner.
An opaque intermediate layer limits old dark printing showing through. It provides a clearer background for light graphics and updated information.
When overlabelling, adhesive contacts the old label's printed or coated surface. Assess the old label's secure attachment and the new adhesive together for a suitable replacement surface.
