Effects and Varnish Printing
Metallic Effect Printing
Metallic inks give logos and patterns a reflective appearance. We assess the sheen on a sample prepared with the actual background and final coating. Printing on metallised surfaces and foil printing offer other finishes with different results.
Applications
- Package logos
- Cover patterns
- Label highlights
- Minimum order quantity
- 500 pieces
- Surface for metallic printing
- Measure the reflective strip on the finished product. Narrow lettering and broad colour areas reflect light differently. Choose colours from printed samples of a size similar to the artwork.
- Method and appearance
- Metallic inks, metallised materials and foil are different processes. Printed samples show their different reflections and finishes.
- Metallic colour area
- Plan metallic areas with the colours printed over them. Varnish, lamination and other finishing affect the final appearance.

Before printing
- Screen preview and reflection
- Grey or yellow on a screen cannot show metallic reflection. Approve colour and sheen using an actual print on the intended substrate.
- Effect of the top coating
- Varnish and lamination can change the metallic effect. Specify finishing order in advance and check fine text and code contrast on a finished sample.
